Science & Innovation Progress
The Science & Innovation Project made steady progress over Michaelmas 2021 and in September, we were thrilled to host a special event to mark the opening of the Beko Innovation Centre.
The Science & Innovation project is split into three phases and our attention has now moved to the Science Block, as our Bursar, Andrew Hart explains:
“Work has begun on the North Building which we hope to complete by the end of the 2021/22 academic year. The demolition and groundwork has been completed, which after the challenges of finding ammunition in the groundworks of Innovation is a relief! We continue to experience the industry-wide challenges of a shortage in construction labour and long lead times on materials and are working closely with the lead contractor, Brymor, to overcome these challenges.”
The steel frame for the new North building is up and we have just started the roofing works. Next up will be the walls and windows and we should then quickly move on to a weather-sealed outer structure.
