Upper Sixth parents raise £62,525 for the Class of 2021 Leavers’ Bursary in eleven days

A big thank you to all the parents who supported the Marlborough College Foundation’s new fundraising initiative to provide a full life-changing bursary for a young person to attend the College for the Sixth Form.

At Marlborough, we are committed to ensuring that talented young people from all backgrounds can benefit from the exceptional education we provide, regardless of their financial means. Fifteen pupils currently enjoy a full bursary but we are determined to grow this number.

We were delighted therefore that three families of the outgoing Upper Sixth year group have kindly offered a Matched Giving Opportunity of £45,000 – half of the cost of a 110% Sixth Form Bursary. In April 2021, parents of Upper Sixth leavers were invited to join these parents to create a Class of 2021 Leavers’ Bursary by raising a further £45,000.

Between 21st April and 2nd May 2021, Upper Sixth parents donated to the Matched Giving Opportunity and raised £27,100, using the match-funding charity platform, The Big Give. The Foundation also received a further £2,500 directly from a parent. As every pound is doubled in this scheme, and once Gift Aid is added, the total raised towards the Class of 2021 Leavers’ Bursary now stands at £62,525.

Thank you so much to every parent who has donated so far. Thanks to your support we now only need to raise a further £27,000 to fully fund the bursary and ensure that a young person can be supported in their studies at Marlborough College. Parents can still donate now via the Foundation website’s donation page or by contacting Jan Perrins (email jperrins@marlboroughcollege.org or call 01672 892439).
