An Evening at Haberdashers’ Hall

Thanks to the kindness of Haberdashers’ past Master George Pulman QC (LI 1962-67), a number of OMs enjoyed an evening with the Master, Louise Moelwyn-Hughes, at Haberdashers’ Hall in London on Tuesday 1st October.

A contemporary of George, Prof Sir Keith Porter (LI 1965-67), also attended and spoke movingly about how he would not have achieved his success in life had it not been for the bursary he enjoyed to attend Marlborough at Sixth Form, under John Dancy’s leadership. Keith had failed his 11 plus but went on to be Head of Trauma at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham). He was later knighted for his services to the armed forces as he was responsible for the care of British troops returning badly injured from Iraq and Afghanistan.

It was a convivial evening, with the Master sharing the latest news from Marlborough and her vision for the College, which includes a significant expansion of our bursary programme.
